Luggage Rack Dilema

Update: Thank you so much for all of your opinions! I thought I would go ahead and hang it to see how I liked it. Whats a little spackling and paint if I don't right??? Not sure if I love it... it's ok. I think it helps having the stainless phone on the side table to tie it in. Just thought I'd share with you.

I would like your opinions on this luggage rack. I've had it for about 5 years, and 2 houses. A friend gave it to me. I have always loved it, just never had a bathroom it would work in. I have seen it in catalogs used in mudrooms as coat racks, it is called a luggage rack, I know in the picture with towels on it it's hard to get past. But... How do you think it would look next to my front door in the living room as a coat rack? Any other suggestions. I love this piece, and would really like to use it. Thanks!

  1. I like the idea. You could easily put a basket or solid shelf on top to place things in (seasonal items, so on). I've been looking for something for my living room to use for a coat rack. Let us know what you do!

  2. If it is shiny/chrome, I do not think it would work in your entry way..would stand out too much..What about a laundry room? Or in the kitchen ... hang fun printed aprons, or vintage tea towels and stack your favorite cookbooks on top?

  4. Hi Alice....I have to agree with Ivy Lane...if it is shiny chrome I don't think it would look good next to the front door...but I like the idea of cookbooks on the top shelf and hanging aprons from the hooks....

  5. I agree with Megan. It has a modern feel to it. I think you can pull it off!! Do you have other silver in the entry way? If not maybe you could paint it to tone it down a bit.
